How to Unlock the FC 27 Transfer Market
Two locks stand between you and the FC 27 transfer market, a game lock and an app lock. This guide opens both, using EA's own steps, with the cutoff times converted to US time zones.
Quick answer: how to open the transfer market
- In the game: work through the objective groups The Journey Begins, then First Team Dreams, then Rising Through the Ranks. EA then switches the transfer market on, taking up to 24 hours for PlayStation and Xbox players and up to 48 for PC.
- In the Web App and Companion App: if you had market access in FC 26, FC 25 or FC 24, it was waiting for you at launch. Otherwise you need active days: on each, play out three Ultimate Team matches in full and open one of the apps before the UTC date changes. Two such days do it with one account on the machine; a shared machine needs four or more.
Why the transfer market is locked: two separate locks
A locked transfer market in FC 27 is not a bug. EA holds trading back on purpose, and it does so in two places that work independently of each other.
Lock one: Graduated Access in the game. If you are new to FC, EA keeps the transfer market and Champions closed until you finish three objective groups in order.
Lock two: market access in the apps. The Web App and the Companion App follow a rule of their own. Returning traders get it carried over; newcomers earn it through active days. That is why the transfer market can work in the game and still show as locked in the Web App.

Unlocking the transfer market in the game, step by step
- Open Objectives in Ultimate Team. Look for the group named The Journey Begins, the first of the three.
- Complete The Journey Begins. Finishing it unlocks the next group, First Team Dreams.
- Complete First Team Dreams. That brings up Rising Through the Ranks.
- Complete Rising Through the Ranks. This is the group that triggers access. Once it is done, EA starts the clock.
- Wait out the window. Full transfer market access arrives within 24 or 48 hours depending on your platform (details further down).
During that wait the transfer market is half open. You can already list items for sale, but searching, bidding and Buy Now stay switched off until the window ends.
Unlocking the transfer market in the Web App
First check whether there is anything to do at all. EA carried Web App transfer market access over from day one (September 16 in the Web App, September 17 in the Companion App) for accounts in good standing that had earned it in FC 26 before August 1, 2026, in FC 25 before August 1, 2025, or in FC 24 before August 1, 2024. If that describes you, sign in and start trading.
Everyone else unlocks the Web App transfer market with active days:
- Play three full Ultimate Team matches in FC 27 on your console or computer, and play each one to the final whistle.
- Log in to the Web App or the Companion App.
- Make sure the matches and the login fall within the same UTC calendar day (US times below).
- Repeat on a second day. If other accounts play Ultimate Team on the same machine, keep going until you have at least four.
A fourth or fifth match on the same day adds nothing, because EA counts days, not games.
What a UTC day means in ET, CT and PT

So a match finished at 9pm Eastern on a Tuesday in October already belongs to Wednesday's UTC day. In Chicago the line falls at 7pm and in Seattle at 5pm until clocks fall back. The simple fix: play your three matches and open the app in one sitting, both after the line or both before it.
Shared consoles: when the transfer market takes four days
If a sibling, a parent or a roommate also plays Ultimate Team on the same console or computer, EA asks for at least four active days instead of two. Plan for the longer route from the start, and have each person play their three matches on their own account and log in to the app with that same account.
Transfer market access on PlayStation, Xbox and PC
- PlayStation: one Ultimate Team club covers both PS5 and PS4, so the objectives you finish and the FC 27 coins you hold belong to that one club. Transfer market access arrives within 24 hours of finishing Rising Through the Ranks.
- Xbox: Series X|S and One share a club as well, with the same 24-hour transfer market window.
- PC: the club and transfer market here are separate from the consoles, and EA allows up to 48 hours. Whichever launcher you use (EA app, Steam or Epic Games Store), the club belongs to the EA account linked to that launcher, so sign in to the Web App with that account too.
Blocked or banned from the transfer market?
A locked transfer market and a banned one are different problems. Locked means the steps above are not finished yet. Banned or restricted means EA has taken action on the account.
According to EA, buying coins from third parties, using the transfer market to move coins, and sending coins to another player, even a friend, are all against its rules. Among the sanctions EA lists are limiting or revoking transfer market access, in the Companion App and in the game, as well as removing coins, deleting a club, and temporary or permanent bans from online play.

Common mistakes that keep the transfer market locked
- Quitting matches early and expecting them to count.
- Playing extra matches in one day, hoping to shorten the wait.
- Finishing the matches before 8pm Eastern and opening the app after it in October, which splits one session across two UTC days.
- Signing in to the Web App with a different EA account from the one your game uses.
- Assuming the in-game unlock also opens the apps. The two locks are separate.
- Expecting to search the transfer market or bid right after Rising Through the Ranks, while the waiting window still only allows listing.
- Treating a ban like a lock. No number of matches lifts an EA restriction.
- Skipping the game itself: after November 7, EA wants at least one FC 27 Ultimate Team login in the game before the apps keep working.
